Why the Premier League won’t be a 6-club competition this year

Every English Premier League team has a completely revamped look this season. The summer transfer window was utilised well by some, while others didn’t participate much. Here’s a look at why we won’t just have a routine, mundane and predictable season this year.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp and his men have showed plenty of promise this year. The formidable front three, Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, is capable of destroying any opponent. Most defenders cannot deal with Salah’s pace. Salah was able to expose Arsenal’s Monreal with his blistering run down the wing. Against Manchester City, his pace proved to be very useful for them. Before the goals came, Salah’s speed began to expose Nicolas Otamendi. The defender was forced to clean Salah out with a horrendous challenge which led to a yellow card. When a central defender is on a yellow card, he cannot commit to challenges. Firmino precision in front of goal has proved to a valuable asset. Sturridge missed many good chances every season but now with Firmino, there aren’t a lot of crosses that go abegging.

Manchester United

After Wayne Rooney started to lose his touch, Manchester United has been searching for the right striker to take up the responsibility of being the main goal-scorer. And it has found Romelu Lukaku. The former Everton man came to Manchester United on a rather heavy fee of around 80 Million Euros. He has been absolutely clinical and ties with Alavaro Morata and Sergio Aguero at the top of the scorers’ chart.

Chelsea

Chelsea signed Real Madrid’s golden boy, Alavaro Morata in the summer. What an investment that has turned out to be. Most pundits thought Morata would take time to get used to the EPL but they were all proven wrong. He ties at the top of the scorers’ charts with six goals against his name. Sales of Morata shirts have absolutely skyrocketed after his fantastic performances for the club. Bakayoko was another player that Chelsea signed in the August window. He has settled in very nicely and his aggression has become a very nice addition to the Chelsea gameplay.

Manchester City

What can i say about Manchester City this season? It has been rampant and has sent a message to the other teams that it is here to compete this season. It has scored 16 goals in its last three games without conceding any. It thrashed Liverpool 5-0. Guardiola has managed to completely revamp the defence, even if it came at a huge cost. Walker, Danilo and Mendy and of course Ederson, have made it near impossible to get past them. Its midfielders have put up a phenomenal display. Kevin de Bruyne has shown that he is up there with the likes of Iniesta and Kroos. David Silva is top of the assists and passes charts, which show the quality of football the club has been playing this season. Manchester City has three of their strikers in the top six of the Golden Boot race this season. Sergio Aguero has six goals, Sterling has five and Jesus has three.

In the Huddersfield vs Burnley match, if the former won, it would have leveled the best start by a promoted club ever in the Premier League. Watford is one point ahead of Arsenal in the league table. It just goes to show that we aren’t going to have any ordinary Premier League this year.

So keep your eyes on the league this year because if you give it a chance, it will definitely surprise you.
