For a moment, let’s forget IPL – not the cricket but the unseemly drama it has brought along — and spend time listening to living legend Leander Paes. In the audio clip that is appended, he speaks of how he was inspired to dream of winning an Olympic medal by the National jerseys that were stacked in the cupboards at home.

The jerseys had been worn by his parents Vece Paes – a 1972 Olympic Games hockey medallist – and Jennifer who had played basketball for India. He also speaks of what sport means to the world and defines Leander Paes first in a word and then in a sentence. I have been listening to this often and it’s nothing short of inspirational.
